Cancelling and refunds.

Plans change. Here is exactly what happens if yours does — no small print, no having to ask.

The scale

Measured in days before the first day of the event, and applied to everything you have actually paid. Dates below are for Rise Ultra 2027, which starts 7 October 2027. For the 2026 event, see the section below it.

The €250 covers what is already spent the moment you book: the payment processing fee, which is not returned to us when we refund you, and the deposits we place with accommodation and crew.

Rise Ultra 2026 — 8–12 October 2026

We are inside 30 days of the start, so the scale above has run its course. Entries for 2026 are no longer refundable. That is not us being difficult: the accommodation, crew, permits and transport for your place are already paid for.

What we can almost always do instead:

Transfer your place to another runner — free, up to 14 days before the start, after which rooming lists are final.
Defer to Rise Ultra 2027 — half of what you have paid carries forward, and you top up to the 2027 price.

Booked earlier in the year under the old “fully refundable for 30 days” wording, with no end date on it? That is the deal you bought and we will honour it. Message us.

If you’re on a payment plan

Two promises, so there is never a nasty surprise:

You will never owe us money after cancelling. The most you can lose is what you have already paid. We will not invoice you for the rest of the plan.
The plan stops the day you tell us. No further payments are taken.

Worked example

You started the €205 plan in November 2026 and cancel on 10 February 2027, having paid four payments — €820.

That is 239 days before the start, so the “before 10 April” band applies: €820 − €250 = €570 back. Payment five is never taken, and you owe nothing further.

At eight months out we would rather defer you free of charge — the whole €820 carries to the next edition and you top up the difference. Ask us first.

Transfer or defer — usually better than a refund

Transfer your place to another runner. Free more than 90 days out, €50 from 90 to 14 days. Not possible inside 14 days, when rooming lists are final.
Defer to the next edition. Free more than 180 days out, €150 from 180 to 60 days. Inside 60 days, half of what you have paid carries forward. Once only, to the very next edition, at that edition’s price.

Late in the day a transfer is almost always worth more to you than the scale above. Talk to us before you cancel.

If we cancel

For any reason within our control: everything you have paid, back within 14 days, with nothing retained. Or carry it to the next edition at the price you paid — your choice.
If the event cannot safely go ahead — earthquake, weather closing the route, official advice against travel — everything you have paid, back in full.
A changed route, a moved aid station or an equivalent hotel is not a cancellation.
Flights are not covered. Book them with that in mind.

Travel insurance

Please take out travel insurance as soon as you book, and make sure it covers trail running or mountain events at altitude, plus cancellation. Most standard policies exclude organised sporting events, so check that line specifically. It is the only thing that covers what this page cannot.
